The month of October was a very stressful and chaotic month. I started the month dealing with my ongoing legal issues. We had just recovered from hurricane Hermine in early September and then came Hurricane Matthew in October. I evacuated to Raleigh before the storm hit. It was the worst storm in 50 years here on Hatteras Island. Eastern North Carolina was hit badly. Lots of flooding and wind damage. It took a week before I could get home when all the roads finally opened up. Samantha and Nala and I were safe in a hotel. We got to live city life for a week.
When I got back to the island my house was just fine, Thank God. Just a little tree damage and the flooding didn't reach my house. Unfortunately on the south side of the island massive flooding. Alot of homes and business' were damaged. Its going to take a couple of months for things to be cleaned up. There were no fatalities thank goodness. The ladies and I got back together to knit and discuss our hurricane adventures. Unfortunately the shop where I teach was flooded and there is alot to do to get it back to normal. I finally got my house and yard back to normal. Nala got groomed she was a mess from all the rain. Some of the ladies and I celebrated the end of the month with visit to the clay workshop. I made a yarn bowl. I cant wait to see it when its done.
